Tis the season! Under normal circumstances, that would imply family gatherings, company holiday parties, or even traveling to see our family members! However, in 2020, the way we celebrate will be a little different but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Just as I described ways to celebrate Halloween during COVID, I will teach you ways to celebrate over the Holidays as well. Whomever you will be celebrating with- this is a great chance to really go above and beyond! There are many benefits to celebrating as well as decorating your home, even before the day of your celebration. “Decorating your home may serve as a cue of positive memories and emotions, which can be really helpful to promote joy.”- ERLANGER TURNER, A PSYCHOLOGIST AND PROFESSOR*. We recognize that it has been a difficult year financially, but there’s always ways to make decorating affordable. One of the most fun and easy holiday decorations is the paper snowflake: https://www.marthastewart.com/266694/decorating-with-paper-snowflakes . If you have construction paper lying around, creating rings and stapling them to each other is a great way to create a garland! This is also a super easy activity for you to do with your kids! Besides the decorations, you can also enjoy fun outdoor activities, though it might be chilly. Take advantage of the snow! Get your neighbourhood involved and have a snowman making competition.

If you are celebrating alone, make a night of it. Choose your favourite Holiday movies, perhaps a book or just relax in your own way. I will never say no to popcorn and some good bubbly…
Now for Holiday dinners… This is a tricky area seeing everyone has their own Holiday dinner celebrations BUT what you can do is elevate your dinner table. https://www.instagram.com/p/CG0WEvznit5/ Though your table will be smaller, with less people surrounding it, that doesn’t mean you should shy away from making it extravagant Try something different and use a completely new linen this year, bring in upgraded cutlery or charger plates with beautiful napkins.
Make this year special, you owe it to yourself.
