This year maximalism is in! Throw out the solid-coloured tablecloths and start embracing patterned linens. Here are some quick tips we have learned about how to make your bold patterned linens stand out!
1. You have to be organized with where and how you use your patterns so that it does not get overwhelming.
When using a patterned linen you have to stay organized because it adds an additional factor into your design. This could mean you might have to incorporate the pattern elsewhere or ensure that the pattern fits into the theme of the event. Ultimately you have to decide whether the pattern is best for you and think if it will logically fit with the aesthetic and theme of the event.
2. Be sure to include neutral elements to your set up to add balance.
If you are using a bold linen you have to be aware of the fact that the rest of the table setting has to compliment the linen. In comparison to using a solid linen, in that scenario the additional pieces to a table setting are what make the setting beautiful. If you are using too many bold and heavy elements it will take away from the design and will be overwhelming for the guest to look at and appreciate.
3. Stick to your colour palette and the colours within your pattern so there is some cohesion to the setup.
Relating back to the previous tips, sticking with the same colour palette will allow for the pattern to work with the other parts of your setting and decor and not against it. Just because you want the linen to shine doesn’t mean it has to stick out like a sore thumb.
4. Add contrast to your design in other areas to make the pattern stick out more.
Just because you are sticking to your colour palette does not mean you can’t add contrast to your design! Include some darker elements or colour that will contrast against the one you are currently working with. Not only will this complement the patterned linens but also complete the table setting as a whole.
